Late '50's And the '60's for me. Elvis, The Beatles. Mersey beat, Motown. Exciting new music and very different from what our parents had listened to. My best friend ( still is 65 years later) were walking around a London market and they were playing Stand by Me by Ben E King, always takes me back Halcyon days
//What song of your era takes you back there to relive it?
Was it the army years ( Ken) ?
Police ? Retro//
Not a song really but the theme from 'The Good ,the Bad and the Ugly'
There was a coffee bar in Ashford Kent that was a hang out for off duty police cadets. For some reason the juke box was continually playing that tune. I hadn't even seen the film up to then but decided I would as soon as possible. I wasn't disappointed.
I loved this version. It was so funny when the guitarist cracked up laughing during the last of his whistling rendition. He couldn't stop for ages. :-)
I was looking only last week at my 1965 whole school photo and couldn't believe how old people looked! Teachers we knew were in their mid twenties looked about 40, almost unrecognisible from the people we sometimes shared the bar with. It's probably because it is on black and white with some fairly dodgy looking clothes!
If I could turn back time it would be to the 60s where I wouldn't make a couple of major mistakes.
