I remember hearing somebody playing the piano at Saint Pancras station a few years ago and being applauded by an enthusiastic crowd: it was Elton John, who had just donated the piano.
I enjoy hearing these guys (usually men, not women).

Nice. There are a number of channels on YouTube dedicated to mall/station piano playing. Many like to involve another member of the public. Not watched a bad one yet.
