Clearing out some paperwork I found a letter from her and it moved me to tears as it was the nicest kindest most understanding letter I have ever received and it's made me want to contact her again. I know she moved and I know where to but then she moved on and I have nothing after that. I know she married a Scot circa 1998 so perhaps may have gone to Scotland.
Aren't there websites where you can try and trace people? I don't mind paying if I have to.
If you don't know her married name you could joint family search (free) and see if you can find the marriage and google from there. https://www.familysearch.org/en/
I'm useless. Realised I have joined Facebook but not used it. I doubt she would have used it either. My Facebook password is a famous saying by my college principal and can I for the life of me remember what it is? Can I heck! It will come, eventually.
237,Yes I know her married surname but that doesn't help me either.
Wolfe we haven't worked together for about 35 years and that company no longer exists.
She wasn't a well lady so could no longer be here sad to say.
Haz thanks, I tried that last night. I went onto Zoopla as I remembered a couple of friends we used to visit. I put their post code in to see if they had moved. They did, in 2008. Site doesn't tell you where they went of course.
BTW, my friend was beautiful, the absolute image of a young Elizabeth Taylor. Every eye was on her when she walked down a street.
Find my Past has recent electoral registers. You can normally access that at a local library.
If you know her full name and the fact of marriage, you could also search for (I am sorry to say) a death at FMP or Ancestry. If you cannot find a death, then you can keep searching. It would be worth also searching for her husband too.
If you manage to get onto FB, you could join groups local to where she was last living and ask if anyone knew her/where she went.
Ladybirder, this is somewhat morbid, and there are a lot of ifs, but if you think she may have gone to Scotland, and sadly died there, you can search here, using her maiden and married surnames, if they are not too common.
So sorry to BM, Perseverer and jno I had to go.
Thank you for all your suggestions. My intention is to go through them all in the morning and see if I get anywhere.
