I have an Apple ipad that is around twenty years old. Up until now it has worked perfectly but now we cannot get any response. We assume that the battery is dead. We have tried several places recently , even an Apple store , but nobody seems to be able to help. Is there anywhere we can send it to, and would it be worth it ?

Identify which model you have, search for replacement battery online. If one is available you could have a go at doing it yourself or take the iPad and new battery to a repair shop. You may have to sign a waiver to say you understand it might break the iPad.

You've done well to keep it going so long.
The iPad has only been in existence for 13 years. The first version is unlikely to work now because the software is so out of date.

There are licensed Apple repair stores and my new battery was about £80. A new iPad starts at £370.
I have an old iPad too. It cannot keep up with a lot of today’s apps. Get a new one.
You can hire a toolkit from Apple to do the repair yourself. But self repair is not recommended, it is a tricky job.
Only 13 years? Seems much longer than that
I looked in to getting a new battery put in to my iPad Pro but decided against it. I run it off a power pack if I need to use it for a long period.
