Has announced he's going to be the father of another child at age 79. I'm just wondering what people think.

People say he's too old, and it's selfish. But, maybe his partner wants to have children...surely her desires count also?
I agree Pasta
Also, he has probably been absent for a portion of his other children's lives - with his filming schedule.
What with his money I suspect nannies do a lot of the raising too

For me the needs of the child trump that of either parent. She had the choice to find someone younger, the child has no choice.

Nanny's are not fathers or even father figures.
planned unplanned blue pill or not to blue pill, the mother may well end up changing nappies for two...
he's still working but they're unlikely to ban him from having his family with him

I'm surprised to find his first two films were directed by Marcel Carné.

When asked he said the child was planned, but they had IVF as his long term gf is 45 yrs old.

I think the main thing is whether the child will be loved and well cared for as it grows and there's no reason to believe it won't be either.
For the child, the choice is never being born. That might be more likely with a rape victim's baby, but for a "hero" like Robert De Niro, life has dealt a good card. Not a fantastic card, it would probably be better if he was 50 years younger, but even so ... not too bad.
Just popped back to thank everybody for not making a big thing about inserting Bob DeNiro where Robert Duvall should be.
Obviously the child is for the benefit of the mother and the ego of the father.
The child will grow up with no father eventually .
Is it right or wrong?
All children grow up without a father eventually.
Do they ?
This baby I believe will not a have a father in his life long before his peers .
I've been in touch with Bob's people, anne, they say it's none of anybody's business really.
Did they tell you to go away and procreate ?
