I bought one from B&M a week ago and so far it's bare. I potted it as per the instructions, watered it as per, but it looks dead and lifeless. I did break off a tiny piece of twig and it is still green, but it hasn't budged at all.

A week? You're being a bit impatient. Give it time.

keep well watered and feed
As Hoppy says give it time. The roots have got to settle first before it bursts into bloom and becomes laden with fruit. May take a couple of years or so.
