Further to my last posting on LPA's. Thanks to those who responded. Great information.
However extending that situation further as below, I would welcome further comments.
Two Donors, husband and wife both in the mid 80's, are each wanting to act as attorneys for each other, initially on finance decisions and then on Health and Care. Because of the possibility one or other of them may become unable to continue as attorney they want to appoint "Reserve Attorney's" for each other. Unfortunately there is only one candidate that they both trust that could fulfil this role. Accepting the practical solution of attorneys acting "Jointly and Severally" is it acceptable to have one attorney acting for both Donors?

yes
ps they wont be acting jointly if they are reserve. The reserve only comes into play if he original drops out
Both myself and my wife have defined our daughter as our attorney and both our grandsons as joint reserve attorneys.

Hi bednobs.
I used the term "reserve" in ignorance. Is term "reserve attorney" actually printed on the forms and is it defined as such?
They are named as 'replacement attorney' on the documents, david
the reserve acts if the original can't act for any reason
OR you can appoint 2 people as your attourneys, who you can specify to act jointly (make a decision together) or severally (each one can act on their own)
It might help you to actually have the forms in front of you. They can be downloaded from here:

Note that the 'complete pack' links are zip files, which need to be extracted after downloading them. The other links are to individual pdf files or to web-based information.
