Depends On the pub, some pub food is dreadful,most is good some is amazing . Miller and carter are expensively for what they offer, I would take a good Independent pub over a mid range chain especially as those chains make a chunk of their money on the wine you buy to drink with your meal. I wouldn't to go a chain pub for a meal either, for the same reason. And never a Wetherspoons, or a sizzling inns, they are mostly dire.

If you’re wanting a Mitchell’s and Butler’s brand to go to, a Premium Country Pub or Vintage Inn would be better.

There is nothing better than a quiet tasty pub lunch with half a pint of beer.

Depends what time you are going but, M&S cafes are very much overlooked for nice meals. Also very clean, along with good service. Puts most pubs to shame.
