I have a portable Philips TV Model 14PT 1686/05S up in the attic. It is in perfect condition and i would like to know is there some type of plug/gadget so that it can be converted from Analouge to Digital. If not, i guess its another one for the skip!

You used to be able to buy Freeview set top boxes very cheaply for your sort of TV, not sure if they are still available
It seems to have a SCART socket on the back - check that this is true for your set.

If so any freeview box with a SCART output will work eg

This, for £21.99, would do the job:

You'd also need a Scart lead, plus you'd need to know how to switch the TV's input so that it shows the output from the Freeview box. Once you've done that, you just leave your TV on that setting and switch channels using the remote control for the Freeview box.

[Note: You can often pick up Freeview set-top boxes, with Scart outputs and complete with their remote controls, very cheaply in charity shops].
Apologies if I'm stating the obvious but you still need an aerial going into it.
I bet there are some boxes on eBay.
