I've just watched an interview on The Tommy Tiernan Show where he talked to a man who had had a double arm transplant.
He lost his arms after being electrocuted at work. This also damaged his liver and he had to have a liver transplant.

When you think how we use our arms and hands imagine spending twenty years without them.
He persuaded a surgeon to consider an arm and shoulder transplants. Seems the successful liver transplant made him a good candidate. Then a long wait for a donor.

The arms and hands aren't yet perfect but are improving all the time.
Made me quite tearful listening to him. I'll put up a link if I can.

Wasn't it fascinating, Ellie. Loved some of the humour when Tommy asked him about fingerprints and he answered that he hoped the donor was clean living.
What he has been through for all those years. But imagine now being able to give your grandchild a hug. To brush your teeth. I was really taken with him.
And the skill of the team who carried out the transplant too.
Amazing

It is, Canary. Listening to him was, as Ellie said, fascinating.

Isn’t she just, Toorak. I have stopped a couple of monthly donations to charities. That is one I will look at.
Don’t some folk just lift themselves up to get over something that would destroy many of us.
I think she is amazing, Gness.

She is. Imagine having a cough then waking up to find all you limbs have been amputated.
Some people have incredible strength.
