Just watched the silence at Fulhams ground.I wonder if there was total silences at all the English and Scottish grounds or if there was any disruption or stopping the silences early?

To entrenched in bigotry sadly , Ymg ?

In my younger days, before football went downhill in the 70s, I always found the impeccable observation of 2 minutes silence very moving.
I think the moment of silence has being well respected and observed across all stadia and around the grounds over the weekend.

Jim, do St Mirren have any fans?
I am a Celtic fan.
Some fans chose to make a protest by staying outside the ground till after the silence. I understand their reasons, but don't agree with their action.
Some fans did disrupt the silence inside the ground by booing and singing. I find this totally repugnant.
Many fans observed the silence.
Before the game started the names of Celtic players and staff killed in WW1 were read out. For a number of years, the Celtic FC foundation has donated £10000 to Poppyscotland Learning.
There are reasons why the club chooses not to have the poppy on their strips.
The actions of some are not the actions of all.
On a lighter note, I knew a St Mirren fan once......

@19.26.Duly reported. But as Gromit is one of the AB elite,i dont expect anything to come of my report.
Gromit, their protest isn’t clear to me. Surely no intelligent human being would object to the living paying their respects to
those who gave their lives to secure a future for us all?
Question Author
Are there no Editors or moderators on this site anymore?Gromits abusive posting @19.26 seems to have passed them by.
Question Author
Sorry,Naomi, but if i hadnt already gave a BA to a poster pointing out the Celtic bigotry and sectarianism i would have given it to you.Meanwhile i await the eds or the moderators on this site to get Gromits abusive posting removed.I might have to wait a while.
I don't 'do' football, so perhaps I should keep quiet, but the post caught my eye. All I'd like to say is that it is a very sad state of affairs when anyone should object in any way to observing a minute's silence and thought respecting all who have suffered in times of war. Sorry for intruding.

No problem, jourdain. But of all the teams in the top leagues in British football ,only one team disrespected the silences-Glasgow Celtic.Perhaps this pariah team should move over to Ireland,or the Irish league,us other teams certainly dont want them up here in Scotland.
I like OP's like this...makes you think about the jist of the thread.

perseverer...aye, ok

Naomi, this is the statement from the group who chose to boycott the silence by staying outside the ground.

"The club have confirmed their plans to hold a minute's silence to mark 'Remembrance Day' before the match against Ross County this afternoon.

"While much political debate around the concept of Remembrance Day can be had our position is clear - we cannot and will not support anything which amounts to implicit or explicit support for the British military system. We, like many others, feel that the past two decades have seen a clear shift away from remembering those who died in the world wars, to a show of support for the British armed forces, and commemorations of all wars, including their imperialist actions in Ireland and across the globe.

"It is not our intention to disrupt the silence. Instead, we will remain in the concourse while it takes place. We would ask all fans who stand in our section behind our banner to, join us in this, and we would invite all Celtic fans who feel the same way as we do to also remain in the concourse."

I said before I can see the basis of their argument, not that I agree with it.

Ynnanfymmi - I suspect your bias is just as extreme as that of those you criticise.

And good night.
Aye, ok
///but if i hadnt already gave a BA///

Change it then. It is possible to re-nominate.
//While much political debate around the concept of Remembrance Day can be had….//

Remembrance Day isn’t about politics and it should never be about politics. People like these brainless, self-satisfied attention seekers taint every good intention.

Three days on from Gromits abusive [email protected] on Sunday and it is still up.Reported numerous times. Is abusive postings now being allowed to stand now on this site? Are there no moderators or editors on this site anymore?
Perhaps the mods didn't see the comment as abusive. Or if they did, perhaps they agreed with it!
Question Author
"perhaps they agreed with it".Yes,says it all about this site, mozz. No wonder i dont come on to this site very often nowadays. If i had said it ,i would have been banned by now.And AB is asking for donations.Jesus wept.
