Im doing a Lovatts Stinker puzzle and cant get this one. Can anyone help with the answer??? Id appreciate it!

My clue is ... old English battleaxe and the letters I have so far are S W I _ I _ L

In the crossword solver there is swinish and swimbel....both are interesting!...don't know if they help!!
