I have just bought a brand new computer already loaded with Windows XP. Does this mean that it will have service pack 2 already built into the XP software or will I have to get it from Microsoft ?

Thanks for any help

Go into the Control panel and see if there is a Security Centre.

If there IS then you have SP2 on, this was introduced with SP2.

Or in the Run window type Winver and a window will come up telling you the level of Windows.

Or select the System Information option from one of the menu options and that will tell you.

Regardless of whatever version, do a system update anyway to make sure you have the latest patches etc. from Microsoft.

Open internet explorer, your web browser, and goto www.windowsupdate.com
