Have you ever got cold feet and changed your mind about an important decision and regretted it? Or not regretted it?
Some years ago my wife and I were in the process of buying a narrow boat, with the intention of using it at weekends/holidays for a few years then selling our house and living on it as full time, continuous cruisers when we retired.
We live near a beautiful stretch of canal with a very good marina so it was feasible. We lost money when we changed our mind.
We sometimes regret no going ahead but it worked out for the best in the end.

We were going to pack up and move to Portugal but decided against it. A good decision now when I consider my health problems and mobility. It was extreme hilly where we were going!
Yes. Once when I was unemployed I got offered a job in Aberdeen (was living in Norfolk at the time) which I initially accepted.

But the cold feet kicked in (pun intended) and I withdrew my acceptance.

It did turn out well as shortly afterwards I got one of the best jobs I've ever had (the only drawback was living under Heathrow flightpath).

But I often wonder "What If" inevitably.
Ah yes, now I see the connection, cold feet, but never watched it
Sorry Blackstoun, but not being a TV fan, I had to google "Cold Feet" to discover what your reference was about.

My pun was the "feet" and "kicked" combination. [sigh]

Is it worse to regret not doing something; or to regret doing something? It's a conundrum.

I almost went on a ship to Australia when you could go over for £10 back in the 60s. I can't remember why I changed my mind, but I'm glad I did. Having experienced Australia in 22 years ago, i much preferred the UK.
