I'm listening to the radio in my car; pull up outside our house, then the radio is interrupted by Mrs Clarions' Facetime call to her friend. I am able to take part in this conversation from inside my car, as I ask what's going on. Baffling. Any ideas anyone?

I think you had your mobile phone with you and it connects to your car radio by Bluetooth. Your wife made a group Facetime call that included your mobile

Thanks Barry. That sounds about right to me. However, I don't use Facetime; don't even have the app. Probably showing my ignorance again! :o) Thanks anyway.
Would 10CSt not have had to have answered the call to have taken part in it?

No Corby. The call interrupted the radio, and I asked what was going on, without touching anything. Mrs Clarion said she was Facetiming her friend. ??
How far away from the car was your wife? Could her phone have connected? If it did anyone in the car could join in the conversation.
sounds like err indoors phone has connected to the car via bluetooth.
That's what I was getting at, you might have been within range of the call but without accepting it, I don't see how that explains your hearing the conversation.
You will have to get your wife to check how close she needs to be to connect, bluetooth 5 has a (supposed) range of 800ft. Was your car window open?
It's very simple, when the phone connects to the car via blue tooth the mike and speakers in the car work as a hands free kit. So you can talk and listen as if you were on the phone.
I agree, TTT, but I would not expect a phone in the house to connect to my car outside. It will be interesting to know just how close the phone was.
Actually, I have seen this used a couple of times in recent dramas - a person overhears a private phone call because the phone has connected to the car he is sitting in, unbeknownst to the caller. I'm sure this happened in Corrie and one of the police dramas I'm addicted to
Blue tooth range is approx 30 feet so it's quite feasible that the car can be in that range.
Especially if her phone is equipped with Bluetooth 5.2

Thanks for the replies folks. The car was approx 20ft from Mrs Clarions' phone and I was able to listen in and take part. Makes you wonder if this happens more often. Thanks again.
10C, don't worry, it can only happen if the phone is already paired to the car.
