Having read a bit about the above, I bought a jar of it today. Haven’t opened it yet and was just wondering if anyone here has used it, and how, and if they liked it.
I bought it to potentially have in pita bread along with other things.

I have actually read about Kimchi from a youtube channel. I can't remember any details but if you are interested then have a look at ... https://www.youtube.com/user/koreanenglishman
and their other channel ... https://www.youtube.com/c/jolly

Its a bit like sauerkraut but also spicey/sweet. I tried it a few years ago as a hot side with chicken wings, and on top of rice. I'm not sure about how it would work with bread though.
Yes, like it a lot...especially the "super beet" one here.
Livens up all sorts of things - spookily, we're having it tonight with ham.

"it's not bad - cooked cabbage with a hint of garlic and chilli"

. . . according to DTC anyway!

^DTC was wrong, then...it's not cooked.
ginge...I've tried that sauerkraut but I have not seen the superbeet locally. I'll have to look for it.
^pasta..lots of beetroot and red cabbage etc and quite hot, with the chilli in it.

Ginge, that’s the brand I bought today, the orange coloured ‘raw’ kimchi, although I thought all kimchi was raw.
Think I’ll give it a go tomorrow with something.
Will check out those YouTube things too, wolf63.
I love kimchi, I have the readymade one in a jar but if you can make it yourself, give it a go, fresh is totally different to jarred.
I treat it like I would a pickle/chutney (more pickle though) you can have it with whatever you like. Sandwich meal or snacks
Its an acquired taste and nothing like chutney. Its fermented cabbage with other things added and you have to be very careful if making it at home that you don't get foodborne botulism. I can't stand the stuff, whats wrong with Branston pickle on your sandwich?
Maybe people want to be adventurous and try something different
Sandwich Spread. The clue is in the name.
I have eaten Kimchee many many times during the 15 times I have visited SK ( for business ) . Personally I doubt jarred can possibly taste the same as fresh, even then , like everything, it depends on the cook. But personally Ican only enjoy it as a side dish with Korean BBQ. I just cannot imagine it on bread. Kimchee is loaded with garlic would stink your fridge out. SK homes have a special seperate fridge for Kimchee.

Thanks for all answers.
I opened the jar, tried a forkful and it nearly blew my socks off!!!! Wasn’t expecting the heat, not unpleasant but unexpected.
Will try it properly tomorrow.
