These young men showed such strength...both physical and emotional. Truly admirable...how they lifted and lowered her coffin, their gaze never shifting. I applaud them.

Hear, hear.
They were wonderful weren't they, didn't falter once. What an honour for them. I thought the whole day was a masterpiece of organisation and did the Queen and the country proud, even the weather was kind
MargoTester, not for the first time am I reminded of the saying, God pays debts without money.
I didn’t watch all the Abbey service but watched the tail end and the procession.
It was well rehearsed and an amazing spectacle.
I always worry about steps but they did a perfect job. They should be very proud of themselves.
My heart was in my mouth when they had to climb all those steps up to St George's chapel with all that regalia on the coffin. I was praying for them!
Oh Tigger, you are a knower of all things!!! Walking in front of the coffin was someone who must have been about 7'6" tall. He dwarfed everyone and was taller than the guards plus bearskins. Any idea who he was?
Ha ha, Kustard ;o)

This might help with the tall chap.

Well done to everyone involved in that funeral organisation/procession.
Those pallbearers were magnificent!
Said you were a knower of all things Tigger!!!! I must think of a post for you to reply to to give you best answer. I was a bit upset with the funeral coverage. They kept going towards family members and not getting there. The best view we had of them was when they left the chapel at Windsor. BUT you would be proud of me because I DID spot Earl Spencer in the congregation!!
Yeah, I spotted him too, Kustard, and Tom Parker-Bowles :o)
How proud their families must be. They were tremendous.

I thought how one day a little kid will be pointing out their grandad as one of those pallbearers!
Didn't see him but recognised the Earl of Snowdon because he looks just like his father and Boris looked as scruffy as ever!!!! Nice to have had a little chat. Been on my own watching the TV since 8 this morning so time I got my tea.

That's an excellent thought, Maydup.
I'd say military precision was the rule of the day. So many people demonstrated that and their loyalty to their Queen. It was all stunning to watch.
I was so pleased to see Princess Alexandra at the Abbey, though her attendance was ignored by the female voice-over.

The world has noticed the Pallbearers. Am I mistaken in thinking they also had the task when the queen arrived from Balmoral and also into and out if Westminster Hall.
