First time ever I have woken up with seriously swollen upper right lip. Have I punched myself or bitten it in my sleep or could it be a sign of something else?

Will try an ice pack later.

You may have been nibbled by some insect, if you have an antihistamine in the house take it - it won't do any harm

Sorry davebro. I was just trying to answer simply but.. people always like to argue. Anyway, I remember one time my Mum woke up in the morning and her bottom lip was lop sided. We thought she had suffered a stroke but when I looked closely, her lip was swollen and that's why her mouth looked like that. It was a mild anaphylactic reaction to something she had eaten. It happened a while later as well. We never did find out exactly what she had reacted to.
I think you'll find you are arguing yourself, 237.

There is no such thing as mild anaphylaxis or lip anaphylaxis.

Lip swelling can certainly occur in an anaphylactic reaction, but as part of a very severe, life-threatening event. I'm sure Sqad will clarify this for you.

Oh well - have at it. I'm out.
Sorry but anaphylaxis is dangerous and it can be life threatening but that doesn't mean that everyone who has an anaphylactic reaction is going to die.
LOL....leave me out of this....;-)
So am i davebro :)
Well of course they won't all die. Where has that been suggested.

People with life-threatening allergies tend to carry EpiPens and Piriton for emergency treatment.
