All the news stations are tripping over them selves to be first to tell us the energy bills are going up by so much .Okay it’s news by why are they doing the companies job for them .The companies will then let the good people know in letters saying as widely reported we are rising our prices by x number of pounds . Happy Friday good people .

It's to spread alarm and despondency. T'was ever thus except when the country was REALLY in trouble - then morale boosting messages were de rigueur.
On the news this morning a lady was being interviewed and she said she if not going to pay and that if we all accept this stance, they can't arrest us all. I admire her greatly, but not sure if I could do that. It's a terrible dilemma though, the way the costs just keep on and on rising. My electricity bill is due any day (won't come today though, the posties are on strike !!) and I'm not looking forward to it.
It’s called News.

Would that be okay as a way of protesting about petrol prices- drive off without paying- or high shop prices-shoplift.
Its difficult times bu theres allways the option to use less, use the goverment help, and spend less on other things- deliveroo seem really busy round here, the roads are busy and beergardens full (they cant all be saving on cooking costs and home energy)... and the roads are packed with traffic, especially heading to airport,.
But more help IS needed for the poorest few

Because it's news.
Why are you quoting my post bobbinwales, I was merely pointing out what this woman said, and I guess there will be many like her. Maybe you should track her down and quote your post to HER !!!
er yeah OK
it isnt news if you hear it from your mother in law
These kinds of "if we all don't pay what can they do" type protests happen regularly over all kinds on things and rarely if ever amount to anything. Perhaps the one time was over the Poll Tax when the rabble managed to overturn an entirely sensible measure.

Most (sensible) people will weather the current financial difficulties by economising etc. Those that really struggle will be helped.

BTW thousands of cars on the roads yesterday heading for a Bank Holiday break in Wales - not struggling too much it seems!

Leddy is saying
if we dont hang together we will certainly hang separately

but in a modern idiom - must have English O level I sy
I think bobbin is just commenting on what that lady said, Shirley. No harm intended.
Correct naomi. Am not sure why you thought I was having ago at you burleyshirley
Although you did say 'you admire her greatly so perhaps I was indirectly including you ...
Well, that's how it read to me.

Sorry, if I got it wrong ..
I've had an email from my provider today explaining the price cap rise
If folk refuse to pay their bills, the providers could ultimately disconnect them and get bailiffs to uplift goods to recover the debts.
