Thank God, I'm off to work - so far a lot of it seems very tacky. I sympathise for the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall having to sit there through this.

Views please and I am sure they will be diverse......

Not watching DT ... but I am still wiping the tears of laughter from my eyes after Boris encouraged France and Germany to do themselves a favour and join The Commonwealth in his speech.
As I type, the Rwandan team enters the arena.

Ironic.
I’m watching. I think it’s quite good.
Cue another thread like the London Olympic Games opening ceremony one.

That wasn’t AB’s finest hour either
OH is dozing to it. I'm trying not to pay any attention it, having given it a bit of time at the start. Poor Charles & Camilla.
If this is the best we can do - I despair! (Mind you I turned off the 2012 Olympic opening when those naff nurses pushing beds full of bouncing kids came in.)

what an utter waste of over £700 million

Was it the Rwandian team that lost some team members when it came to catch the flight home after the Olympics?
Too long - it goes on and on and on!
London wants to stage again in 2036. So plenty of time to get the barbs sharpened by then.
2012 was probably the best Opening Ceremony there’s ever been
Special message to AB from Joe Lycet lol
"Giant animatronic bull" is not wide of the mark, description-wise.

Must admit the scene in 2012 when they brought the 5 rings together via the Industrial Revolution was brilliant.
It’s a Games Opening Ceremony.
Why do you expect?
You get a bit of colour a bit of history and a bit of fun.
Otherwise head to Stratford-o-A for some proper culture
The whole thing is an utter yawn, but you have love the young people anxious to do well for themselves and their countries.
Simon Le Bon has still got it tbf!
I was just thinking that. Pretty good

The teams to march in behind their flags, a two minute speech from whoever is opening the games, the flame lit (or whatever the Commonwealth Games equivalent is) and goodnight Vienna, over to Albert Square. Thirty minutes tops, two minute report on the news.

Opening ceremonies have become a farce and this one sounds no different.
