You’re invited to a party that for every reason you can think of, you really don’t want to go.

Do you….

Go anyway and just stay a short time

Ignore the invitation

Send apologies with an excuse about having something else on that night

Explain that you can’t think of anything worse!

One (possibly the only) good thing about Covid : it gives you the excuse that you are still being very careful about mixing ,especially if you are ancient like me.
Now, at my young age, I'd make an excuse. When I'm old I will do as Sheila Hancock does....tell the truth. ;-)

Interesting that no one choses to go anyway.

I thought someone might go just to support the friend or the family.
How far away from you will the party be?
"Thanks very much for the invitation; however, I will not be attending. I'm not at all being anti-social, I'm merely being pro-choice.
For the last ten years or so I've declined the annual invitation to have wine and nibbles at AB Towers.

I don't seem to be missing much judging by the lack of comment in ensuing days.

Unless of course an exclusive coterie are sworn to secrecy. :-)
Just tell them I don't like their company :0)
