Has anyone had it ? - a new operation to cure watery eyes, I'm due to have it done in the spring.
The problem has reached a point where it is affecting my work which entails looking down onto a flat surface and I have to constantly wipe my eyes.

New? it has been going for 50 years.
No big deal, but have it done by an Ophthalmic Surgeon and not an E.N.T surgeon -;0

No, I haven't had it done, but have done them.
How do you pronounce that
BJJ.....LOL......I have no idea....I got the juniors to pronounce it for me.
Why don't they just call it Watery eye Syndrome
Is that the op where they make you a new tear duct as I had that done a number of years ago.
Question Author
Well, it says it's new here;
https://medicalxpress.com/news/2021-10-surgical-procedure-watery-eyes.htm

It also says it requires a full anaesthetic. What I'm Wondering is how long will I be in the hospital.
sqad; it will be in the Tübingen University Hospital which is I am told, "one of the best hospitals in Germany" & has a large eye department.
German surgeons are world class in my opinion and that hospital is a world respected unit for eyes.
The operation will be done under G.A and you will be in hospital for a day at least, maybe two.

You will be given instructions post op formulated by their own preferences.

I cannot open your link.
Thank you Corbyloon.

An old tune on a new fiddle.
Good luck with the procedure.

Thank you LadyCG; I wish it could be done pronto, but I have to wait until May, and the op. was requested last October - everything non- priority slowed down due to, you-know-what.
Are they able to treat patients with small eyes too?
Question Author
^^ Aye !
I’ve had it on one eye and it worked a treat.

That was after various attempts to open the tear ducts with stents which worked on one but not the other.

It was a day thing and I came away with an eye dressing which from memory I removed after about 24 hrs. To reveal a bit of bruising and a couple of tiny stitches.

Days or weeks if eye drops followed, can’t remember how long and eventually it was all done. At no strange did I have any pain or discomfort.

Recommendation from the nurse was to take some arnica a few days before and afterwards which again worked a treat and prevented a black eye.

Are you having both eyes or just ine?
Question Author
Maydup. This process is supposed to leave no scarring - though I wouldn't mind, - I could always say it was a duelling-scar :0)

I shall be having both eyes done as far as I know, though one eye is worse than t'other.
