There Is An Energy From Waste (Efw) Company....

in America called Greencitizen who recycle video tapes and cassettes. when they say recycle they actually mean incineration which, according to their research is a better alternative to land fill for these particular items. Assuming they are right, is there a similar company in the UK doing the same thing? Googling has found a number of EfW sites here but none specify if they accept the items mentioned.

There is a company called Power House Energy (PHE) which is developing a system for incinerating waste at very high temperature (including plastics) to produce useable & harmless gases with practically no residue. If they can get it to work on a commercial scale it would be mega.

I'm left wondering whether there's actually much need for such a facility in the UK anyway. Here in Suffolk, zero household waste goes to landfill anyway, with all non-recyclables going to an energy-from-waste incinerator just a few miles down the road from where I live:

If similar facilities are coming online elsewhere in the country, there would seem to be little incentive for any firm to invest in facilities specifically to recycle video cassettes, etc. Simply dropping them into a household's 'non-recyclable' bin will achieve exactly the same end result anyway.

Thank you for your replies, it seems EfW facilities dealing with this already exist, unfortunately none in my area.
