My son was responsible for my love of Divine Comedy (and Radiohead and others). I'm so looking forward to their new album. They are coming to Camridge so not too bad for us! I personally think Neil is a genius.
He's been one of the UK's cleverest lyricists for years now. Love a drop of Radiohead as well. Your son has got great taste.
I saw that this morning Mama. I see you had a gatecrasher!
He's quite a good musician himself Mozz. Not professionally though. He was playing by ear at 6 and has perfect pitch, whatever that means. His house is crammed with musical instruments!!
I think Neil has a wonderful unique voice. Mr Lottie can't see it, or I should say - can't hear it!
pat - // The highlight of my New Years Eve was seeing Neil Hannon and The Divine Comedy on the Graham Norton show and that their tour next year includes a reasonably near venue! //

I shall go just to hear him sing A Lady Of A Certain Age.

I caught him singing it accomapnying himself just on acoustic guitar back when Jonathan Ross was on Radio Two on Saturday mornings.

As you'll appreciate, I have heard a seriously large number of songs by an equally large number of artists in my professional and social life, and I thought then, and I still think now, that that is one of the greatest songs I have ever heard.

When I heard the album version with the orchestra, I was even more entranced, it is just magnificent.
He has got a great range vocally. His baritone is on a par with Scott Walker (which is high praise coming from a long time Walker fan) but he has a fantastic falsetto too (I'm thinking of songs like Sunrise). Sorry, waxing lyrical and derailing the thread.
Ha, ha. Son is also a great fan of Scott Walker!!
Son loved all these artists whilst he was still at school! I think he would make a superb music critic.
Like the old dinosaur of Radio 2, Steve “Serious jockin” Wright, Jools Holland should be made extinct
