Which sweeteners taste the closest to sugar? I can't stand the sacchariny taste they all seem to have - are there any with no calories that dont taste foul?????? TIA

I usually use Hermesetas or Sweetex, which don't seem to leave that horrible aftertaste that the really cheap ones do!
My brother is a diabetic and just cannot get used to any sweeteners though.

I've used them for so long I can't put the correct amount of sugar in tea now, if no sweeteners available. There is also a sugar substitute on the market that isn't calorie free but I think has just half the calories.

Hope this helps angeldrawers.
There's one called Half Spoon which is half sugar and half sweetener, but you only need half as much, so if you usually have 1tsp, you would use 1/2 tsp which is equivalent to 1/4 tsp...if you follow me!!

Splenda is also supposed to be good
I like Splenda or Canderel but have found out I'm allergic to all sweetners- so it's sugar fix for me
The one I like is called Sweet and Low. You usually find it in cafes in pink sachets. i wrote to the address on a packet and buy them mail order in boxes of 1000 for about 11.
forgot to say splenda is made from sugar and is half sugar and half alternatives so it tastes closer to sugar and looks more like sugar than canderel
The only sweetener that leaves no bad taste (to me at least) is Hernesetas Gold.
