Music touts, and any touts for that matter are the scum of this earth. Here I am again wondering why the music industry cannot come up with a system which allows "true" fans to purchase tickets @ face value. The Arctic Monkeys did it at last month's Forum gig (great gig)so why can't the rest follow? I've just tried to purchase tickets to see The Killers and they are on Ebay for a stupid price. F*ck F*ck F*ck F*ck You , You F*cking touts.

you say that...but you could just as easily miss out on tickets by genuine fans buying them up before you...

at least with touts you KNOW you can get one outside..

even if you pay over the odds...

depends how concerned you are!..

the other option is go see the bands before they go so mainstream and ticket prices go up anyway!
I can see why Lost Soul is angry tho - the tickets on ebay are often not bought by real fans (e.g where people have bought tickets with the intention of going and then can't go). They are bought specifically to sell them on for a profit - wasn't it tickets for Live8 where after winning them through texting a number, people were putting them on Ebay for silly money?
I'm with you Lost Soul. Too often I see debates like this where people, ludicrously, come in and defend the touts or give a shoulder-shrugging might-as-well-put-up-with-them response. We DON'T have to put up with them. I've been to plenty of "sold-out" gigs over the years, buying tix AFTER they've sold out, and have never, EVER, got tickets from either a tout or ebay - I've always paid the standard price.

How? It's very simple: if I'm interested enough, I just occasionally check the agency websites - SeeTickets, Ticketmaster, Ticketweb, the venue website if there is one, the band's official website, etc. A few times a day - it only takes a few moments. Every now and then, tickets are released, for various reasons. Get lucky and do one of your spot-checks while there's availability, you're laughing. This is how I got into one of the hottest shows at the time, the Stones at the London Astoria in 2003. Also, If I happen to be near the venue, I'll go in and check at the box office too.

Late releases frequently occur within a week or two of the gig. Again, that's paid dividends for me. And I've even turned up at the box office on the day and been successful, as many venues will have day-sales of tix held back for that purpose. I urge you to try all this for the Killers. DO NOT BUY FROM EBAY. There are scum who buy up tix JUST to sell them on ebay for a profit. When Radiohead toured theatres in 2003, they cancelled the orders of people selling their tix on ebay, and re-released them for general sale. I benefited from that too - heh heh heh.

Which Killers gig were you hoping for?
i agree about buying tickets from ebay ,has anyone tried scarlet mist .com its supposed be ethical ticket exchange ,where you pay face value .no fee from web provider looks good but not tried it..
I've booked tickets for James Dean Bradfield at the Zodiac in Oxford and the only way to get your tickets is to turn up on the night with your credit card. So there is no way for touts to sell them on. Bad news for one of my mates at work though because I forgot to tell him it was on and now he can't get a ticket. So there are good and bad points.

There is usually a limit to the number of tickets anyone can buy though, does that not stop touts buying in bulk? Or can they just buy 6 and then buy another 6 with a different card?

Thanks for your answer peeps. I was hoping to catch them @ the Carling Academy in Newcastle. I'll try the suggestion which you guys mentioned i.e the website and box office. I don't see why they can't implement the idea which I mentioned before, buy a ticket by credt card and only you can go no one else. Well I'll guess I will just have to wait for another chance to see them. Once again thanks for your responses. Peace.
Why don't you keep an eye on the "Evening Chronicle" you can sometimes get them in there when people can't go for some reason or another. It's worth a try. Good luck.
