There is an absolutely stunning piece, "On the Transmigration of Souls," by John Adams (about 25 minutes long). It was commissioned for the New York Philharmonic and premiered during the orchestra's 2002-03 season.

It is orchestral with some choral bits; the texts are phrases taken from missing-persons posters and memorials posted by Ground Zero. It's quite haunting. It's on the Nonesuch recording # 79816-2; the orchestra's conducted by Lorin Maazel.
Have a listen to Alan Jackson's "Where Were You When The World Stopped Turning", great song, very moving.
Ryan Adams(sp??) not Bryan Adams, did 'I still love you New York' as a tribute, I think. Neither moving nor good, in my humble opinion. :(
was that a tribute? i thought he's just recorded the video a few days before the attack and so it was rather poignant because of that
yes boink I think you may be right. I can't see any reference to the twin towers in the lyrics - was gonna cut and paste em but I closed the box by mistake, soz.
The album, Devils & Dust by Bruce Springsteen was inspired by the events of 9/11.
