The Saudi State through their Investment Fund is to take over the English Premiership side.

Saudi happily hack to death troublesome journalists and dismember their bodies while the young are still alive, has somehow passed the FAs ‘Fit and Proper’ ownership test.

I'm sure if all the fans were taken to the stadium and shown footage of women getting stoned for the audacity of allowing themselves to be raped, gays being tortured and jailed, and enemies of the state 'disappearing', only to be found chopped up in bin bags -well they may be a little less enthusiastic about their new club owners.
Oh no, I find myself agreeing with Gromit again.

Gromit Islamophobic? Not the Gromit I know.
I wonder what the Saudis will make of the lovely lasses in the Big Market on a Saturday night lol!

"Howay now like man! get yer abaya's on lasses, yul catch yuh deeths gannan aboot like that!"
I wonder whether another owner with bottomless pockets is good for football.

The top clubs can attract the world's best players, and the simple law of averages says, if you have enough of the world's best players in your squad, then you are going to be basically unbeatable, and where is the sport in that?
The morality of having the Saudies is all wrong but money and influence talks. Will there now be any anti Saudi campaigns aimed at Newcastle United?
Unfortunately the current fit and proper test doesn't include human rights abuses by the putter up of the money.

Lets be fair we all love a little cash but now is the time to learn from this and put in new laws that makes sure it doesn't happen again hey.
It made me feel slightly sick to see young Newcastle lads donning Saudi headgear and celebrating their new owners. Please, some one, tell them about Saudi offences against humankind. Those kids had/have no idea and will go on to support mindlessly and give a coat of respectability to Saudi Arabia. Money talks -- far too loudly.
jourdain well said, but some will accuse you of (quote) " peeing on their cornflakes". These people either have no idea what goes on in Saudi or don't care. I hope it's the latter, and if so they need educating.
I know the fans don't have a say in who owns their Club, but celebrating by dressing up in Saudi robes is plain disrespectful to the thousands of Saudi people who have suffered and died under their regime
Do stop your baiting please APG, something you appear to excel in

I don't think this is the last of Middle East interest in Premier League clubs. Manchester United were a target 2 or 3 years ago. The Glazers were offered £1.5bn but turned it down saying it wasn't enough. They wanted £1.8bn. I wonder if this is the same group?
10ClarionSt. Its the same Saudi sovereign wealth fund buying Newcastle that was in sponsorship talks with Manchester United in 2019.
Apg, you said dont make it personal and moaned about juvenile comments just after posting "but some will accuse you of (quote) " peeing on their cornflakes". These people either have no idea what goes on in Saudi or don't care. I hope it's the latter, and if so they need educating."
which seems both personal and juvenile, and bringing what someone said in chatter bank into news thread where you apparently want to avoid it and debate like a grown up!
Bednobs I was referring , when I said some people need education, to the idiotic fans outside the Stadium dressing up with tea towels on their heads. I won't be drawn into an argument by you or anyone else, so you are wasting your time.
