Before anyone says it I am NOT blaming staff whatsoever. But it was a long/stressful/ horrendous eve. To cut v long story short, my doctor decided that she wanted me re-assessed at hosp as not much improvement since my discharge a week ago. Sent with letter to apparently avoid sitting in A & E for hours. Did that work? Don’t be daft. Anyway arrived at 1 pm. By 4 pm they’d decided my blood tests indicated a clot and they wanted to admit me, and also do CT scan amongst other things. Only prob was, they didn’t have a bed. Shall I go home and come back in morn?? No no no, one will be free any min….. said I was in a lot of discomfort and couldn’t sit on this hard chair for hours and hours as the sheer angle of sitting like that was making it worse. No no, any min now…… 1am!! I’m still sat , by now in a side room, with various other people, all at snapping point, who have been here for up to 12 hours with no food, no offer of a drink, literally not knowing what to do with themselves, and all in pain. Staff apologising and saying even they didn’t understand what was going on. (Even I understood they couldn’t create a free bed out of thin air). Finally get on a ward at 2 am. Said they didn’t have any pillows for my bed! But finally managed to find one. Come to this morning - only staff I have seen are cleaners and lady who brings round tea. Staff desk is empty, phone is just ringing and ringing, when you ask anyone where on earth are the staff you just get told oh they will be out in a minute. Bizarre situation is an understatement.and I am no further forward. Cheer me up someone!

My friend has been in exactly the same situation - well something like it. She has extreme COPD amongst underlying health problems and she was to self isolate in a ward - where was it but a Dementia ward - and with the masks and a variety of nurses appearing - they were treating her as if she had dementia. pureed food was the start. She said the horrors of the patients were awful, nurses just came watered and fed them and left them for hours and hours. She just got back home about a week ago and I mentioned residential care to her because she had been thinking of it - she hollered no way - I will and try and crawl out of here (her own home).
^^^ friend has right breast off due to cancer and at the top of her bed in this place - it says no blood work to be done or blood pressure to be done on her arm. guess what - they all ignored the notice so she had to tell them every single time to leave that arm alone

6pm. Still not had scan but have now been put on clear fluids only. So I’ve been here since yesterday 1 pm for a basic scan, it’s clearly not going to be done today so that’s yet another day, and now no food or drink, just water. ……..
Anne, yes, but I must admit that I smiled as I posted that! Had a nap this afternoon. Feeling more independent now I can get about. But baby steps x
Smow,. Thinking of you. Xx
What a palaver Smow, hope they soon get you scanned. x

Thankyou everyone - who I all regards as my AB buddies x Finally had scan this afternoon - guy who did the scan was the first guy here to actually let off steam. He said that they had to cancel so many pre- booked CT scans due to COVID that they are MONTHS behind and just can’t catch up. They need at least another scanner to even come close to getting on top of things. Nearly gave him a hug, he looked so down.
Are you still in hospital? If yes why ?
Smow...I am so sorry for what you're going through. I do hope things improve, but.....
In 2008 after hospital consultations and with my solicitor I was told I had a case to sue the hospital over the treatment and death of my husband. I was informed of the highest payout I could expect.
I asked my solicitor if, by taking action, things would improve for others. His reply was that in his experience no.

I took no action. I have followed news items about that hospital. It's as bad as ever.

Sorry to hear you're still in hospital Smow. Have they got you sorted yet bed wise and treatment wise?
Sorry, just read you've only just had a scan so won't be on treatment yet except for perhaps pain relief.
