Given the state of the police today I'm surprised they didn't "take the knee" and hand out rainbow-coloured balloons and lollipops.
Dave50 there was a recent court case ,supreme courts maybe, that says the police can't drag them off as there's a legal right to protest.
Question Author
It's legal to protest but surely obstructing the highway is an offence.
Hopkirk, you may end up inconveniencing anybody else who knows you.
Home insulation could reduce the costs of home energy bills and our need to import electricity:

" “When we have scarcity events and wholesale prices spike, the cost is going to go up for consumers.”

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-09-13/u-k-power-prices-hit-record-as-outages-low-winds-cut-supply

So wind turbines only work when its windy ^
Plod once again fail to protect the majority, instead aiming for the person who had enough and was trying tom do their job for them

Water cannon loaded with dye (and soap) is needed. Or cattle prods like they removed the cows off the Mway the other day.

//Naomi. It means fund the provision of thermal insulation to dwelling places. Not rocket science. What didn't you understand?//

There has been funding for this for years.

You aware aware that whilst lofts can generally be insulated for older properties insulating walls can be a no no and can cause problems as they were designed to breath.

I suspect some of their dads and husbands own insulation firms!
"World’s Top Oil Consumers Exceed Pre-Pandemic Demand Levels"

"Benchmark gas and electricity prices in Europe have exploded as supply struggles to keep up with surging demand."

Like Extinction Revolution or whatever they’re called, this bunch don’t appear to be generating much support for their antics. No surprise there.
SevenOP, probably doesnt suit your apparent agenda but:

//The Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries extended supply cuts made in 2020 when crude oil prices had reached a low of under $19 per barrel through the first five months of 2021. Saudi Arabia notably made an additional voluntary production cut of 1 million barrels per day between February and April.//

The reason for the protest does seem a bit niche - presumably next week there'll be a splinter group of the splinter group of Extinction Rebellion called "Double Glaze Britain", followed by a splinter group of the splinter group of the splinter group called "Please shut your front doors Britain because you're letting the heat out - were you born in a barn".

Given the thousands and thousands of people held-up, it is more likely than not that people will have missed flights, important appointments and medical treatment; being late for work may 'just' be an inconvenience, but for many the delay would have been much more important.

I too struggle to understand why the police didn't simply drag them away as soon as they arrived on the scene.

The protesters are pathetic bedwetters who deserve all of the vitriol flung their way - they certainly don't appear to have won a lot of support.
" OPEC+ ministers agreed on Sunday to boost oil supply from August ... OPEC+ last year cut production by a record 10 million barrels per day (bpd) ... From August until December 2021 the group will increase supply by a further 2 million bpd or 0.4 million bpd a month"

Saudi produced ~12 million barrels per day, the world uses 100 million barrels per day.

""As commodity markets are now unable to react to the first leg higher in prices through greater supply, once inventories are exhausted like in European gas, then demand destruction via sharply higher prices is the only option to rebalance markets," they said."

That is to make the Public aware of potentially higher household energy bills.
