It is if you haven't got a boyfriend. If you have-just make sure you dont get caught!
Of course it is alright. It makes a lot of sense to get to know your size and the styles available. Even if you are lone at the moment, there is no harm in doing so.
Just make sure you have an excuse ready if you see anyone you know.... make it plausable!
Be careful!! you may be stuck down by a bolt of lightening, dreadful thing to do!! lol
The only harm would be to yourself-I would consider having me sectioned if I went trying on engagement rings since I'm perpetually single!

Thanks guys... yep, I do have a fella... just though it might be an idea to be prepared like a good boy scout! Don't wear rigs so no idea of style or size!
I actually bought both my engagement & wedding rings. My then boyfriend worked 7 days a week so was n`t able to come with me. He paid though.
Oh dear no. I would just wait for your mister to arrange a special night out with all the romance pre-arranged, get down on one knee, propose and hand you a ring you don't like which is the wrong size.

And just be grateful that he asked!
well its not illegal...

i knew a girl who went and bought herself a ring to give to her boyf to give back to her...he hadn't even asked her and they hadn't even discussed getting engaged, and hadn't even been together that long and didn't live together, she just did it...they didn't last much longer...
