...of the Scottish football fans?

'It's sheer hope that Ukraine will win. I think England will beat them and I don't dislike the English but we just want to see them lose.'

Really?

It would seem from this thread there are many English people who hate the Scots. It makes me sad that Humans, a supposedly intelligent species, can hate other Humans for no rational reason.

Don't all football fans want to see their arch rivals get soundly beaten?

I used to live in Sheffield Wednesday territory. Their supporter's favourite chant includes these words:
"Never felt more like singing the blues,
When Wednesday win,
And United lose"

Owls' fans love it when the Blades get thrashed by anyone and Blades' fans love to see Wednesday soundly beaten too. (The only thing that they can agree on is that both hate Leeds United, with venom!).

Here, in Ipswich Town territory, the news that Norwich City have just lost heavily is always greeted with great joy, whereas up the road in Norfolk they're no doubt delighted when the Tractor Boys are on the receiving end of a hammering.

I have little doubt that most Manchester City fans want to see Manchester United lose (and vice versa) and that the same applies between the fans of Everton and Liverpool.
the original game mushroom, union.
TBF though League is pretty good too, Soccer is way down the list of sports I'm interested in.
For Funks Sake, it’s tribal rivalry man, get over it, nothing sinister enough to cause hatred or bigotry !!
I make no bones about saying I'm a founder of ABU, Anyone But United! As far as the Scots, my daughter up there says that her neighbours have been pleased to see a home nation proceed but it must be difficult for the Scots to support a winning team! Am I right in saying that so far in Euro 2020 they've been the only team to take a point off England so that's a positive for them.
//Don't you ever get bored of telling everyone you don't like football, NJ?//

No. I'm hoping to gather a few disciples.
I would hope it's not that serious! I support Scotland over England in Rugby (a thankless task, but the last 10 years have given me hope and occasional euphoria) and I don't have much interest in footie. I've had times when I want anyone to beat England (they just get so cocky), but it is just a game. I would like England to play well, if they're beaten - they're beaten. At the moment, they are on a come-back so I wish them well.

Whatever, it's very O.T.T. to say the stuff some Scots are saying. Why on earth do they feel like that about another bit of their country.
Chris, the rivalry between Burnley and Blackburn is such that spectators are only allowed in each others grounds if they have travelled on official transport, laid on by the clubs, with tickets bought along with the transport. There is a Burnley fan who lives in Blackburn and the last time Rovers entertained us at Ewood Park, that guy had to travel to Burnley on the day of the match to get the official coach to Blackburn. after the game, he had to travel on the official coach back to Burnley to pick his car up and drive back home to Blackburn.

I'll bet, Ken, that Blackburn fans don't exactly cry their eyes out when Burnley lose - and vice versa!

;-)

Of course not, Chris. We invade each other's 'fanzones' on social media and rip one another to shreds. Of course, at this moment in time, we hold the upper hand. Better to get beaten in the Premier League than the Championship :-)))
