In my last garden I had bats galore. I was longing to see some here and late last night I did. Late, but I just had to send a text to my daughter. "BATS! BATS! I have bats. Love BattyMA!xx Then, in my excitement, I sent it to the tiler who had been out to give me a quote.

Cats like hunting the lower flying ones especially when they skim the tall grass for moths a friend's cat used to add them to the dead wildlife collection now and again until said friend decided to keep her in when the bats were flying
''i cried at real steel on sunday''

Here's a map of the Buckfastleigh area - you need to park by the "chapel rems of" at the end of the yellow road near the centre of the map. Then walk along the path which sets off roughly northwards from the parking area.

Get there about 15 minutes before dusk on a warm summer evening, walk down the track about 50 yards and wait quietly. You don't need a detector - these things are the size of soup plates and flying up the 'green tunnel' are very impressive. One of the most amazing wildlife experiences I've ever had in the UK.

Thank you Dave. Hope to visit her soon but will pass on info tonight. She was looking for more new places to explore.
I think my OH has just sent me a Freudian text. He's away abroad on a "lads' holiday". He texted me and said "Food in hotel terrible. Like school dinners. going to be dating out later". I think he meant "eating out later". I HOPE he meant "eating out later".

Lovely one Barmaid. How many men get into trouble with texts?
Chronicled on the 14th Nov. 2018....

"Morning from here.

Woken to the most incredible knocking sound just on midnight, an echoing coming from the wall that joins the kitchen on to the main part of the house, my room is above the kitchen - there's an old chimney in the wall there.

Thought it was the mater up and scratching the walls as she has been wont to do. Dressed and downstairs and it was above me as I came through the door. The mater was well-asleep though.

Other than the old man or someone from the graveyard next door visiting, (the wall is just about dead on the lay-line) I can only put it down to a rat or squirrel caught in there - it went quiet after I was up and stayed that way."

In retrospect, it was a bat in there - it probably moved up the chimney on sensing me below - and with that picked up the fresh air and was gone.

So no thanks to bats please..... my daughter is nuts about them and this pic is from Austin in Texas when up to 2 million come out! https://d3qvqlc701gzhm.cloudfront.net/thumbs/46cfdf089638e42b126d9b350b6561d95fca374e01dbd16fbb3fce8250a5e338-750.jpg
