Not legally. You can download free software which is just as good if not better, though. Checkout OpenOffice and LibreOffice.
You can sign up for 'Microsoft Office on the web' (where everything is done in your browser) for free:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/microsoft-365/free-office-online-for-the-web

Otherwise, as Jim suggests, use OpenOffice Calc (which I use myself)
https://www.openoffice.org
LibreOffice Calc (which is popular among ABers)
https://www.libreoffice.org
or WPS Spreadsheet
https://www.wps.com
They're all compatible with Excel.

thanks both

When you say 'compatible' - does that mean i can work on a excel spreadsheet , save it on a memory stick and simply then load it unto one of the above spreadsheets ?
If you're working on an Excel spreadsheet in the office (for example), you can save it to a memory stick and then open it with OpenOffice Calc (for example) at home. (OpenOffice Calc recognises Excel formats). You can then continue working on it at home, with OpenOffice Calc, just if you were using Excel.

By default, OpenOffice Calc saves spreadsheets using OpenDocument format. (i.e. .odf, rather than .xls or .xlsx). You can get around that on a one-off basis by using 'Save As', instead of 'Save' and selecting an Excel format. Alternatively, if you want OpenOffice Calc to always use an Excel format, you can change the default format by following the instructions under 'Default file formats' here:
https://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/Documentation/OOoAuthors_User_Manual/Getting_Started/File_formats
What do you mean?
If you want to download some spreadsheet that I have designed, then I certainly hope you can't.
Would you expect to download a free word document? (e.g. a novel)
^^^ I'm reasonably confident, Atheist, (based upon both his primary and secondary posts) that Bazile is actually referring to a spreadsheet program, rather than to a spreadsheet, per se.
Aah, I see Buen. Sorry, Baz...
You could also use Google Sheets, which is functionally almost the same.
