In case anyone is still wondering (or bothered!), my 'goodbye ' message was indeed an April Fool joke.

Thanks so much to the kind AB'ers who were taken in, a knowing wink to those who saw through it, and a smiling 'lighten up!' to those who were sniffy about it.

Ok - as we were...

I see my (The Guardian) Suez Canal AFJ has gone down the plug hole.
the problem, Tilly, was that nothing on AB is 'Evergreen'......
Very funny,Tilly but I was enwrapped by the return of the saviour
I missed the post on your jape Andy. If I had read it I would have tried to dissuade you from leaving as your input though sometimes quite verbose is nether the less usually logical, unemotional, and insightful, except when you disagree with me:-)
Roger, Mr T also watched King of Kings today! (For the twentieth time...it's that Salome dance he likes.)

Thanks for your kind words, much appreciated.

And in view of your support, I undertake only ever to disagree with you on the days that have a 'y' in them!!
here's a Suez incident - https://metro.co.uk/2021/03/29/barge-wedged-in-uk-canal-goes-viral-after-causing-0-a-day-trade-disruption-14324003/

there was a suggestion that it cost the Yorkshire economy £3.76 for a day....
Nice one, Tilly or should that be pair ?
Just read your April 1st post, Andy, it looked to me like an suicide note. Glad it's not... Remember when Panarom did the spaghetti April's Fool documentary? That was funny!

Myname - goodness, let's not go down that road!

I am not old enough to have seen Richard Dimbleby heading the public at the time, but my mum and dad said how easy it was back then, because RD was the face of the BBC so it never occurred to anyone that he would ever not tell the truth.

Hoaxing not heading!!
It's not something I remembered either but it does seem to mentioned whenever April Fools pranks are brought up. After the program I read that people were ringing and writing into the BBC asking how they could cultivate spaghetti.
The sense of disappointment among the AB ranks is palpable. For a moment the air was rarified and there was birdsong, and then..... It was a poor attempt at an April Fool jest.
I'm glad you're still around :-)
