If you break the question down for numpties like me, I'll have a shot at an answer.
But, you have the internet at your fingertips, so what can you find there?
Are you a student?
Just guessing, but their environment. One is in water and does not encounter many herbivores so have been around longer, and have had more time to mutate and evolve.

Or the algae are simpler lifeforms so easier to replicate with more opportunity for a mutation. Plants are more complex so harder to evolve naturally.
