From what I know the answer is no.
Quote from a member of the production company:
"“We’ve found most people for the show through social media. And we don’t charge for repairs. If people wish to make a donation to charity we’re very happy with that, but it’s by no means necessary.”

I would have thought no charge = win win. Production company get to make their program and members of public get their heirlooms restored FOC. The actual cost of restoration would probably be prohibitive for many.
....and the third win is that the repairers become well-known and their regular work flourishes
brainiac I would have thought the restorers are already well known and at the top of thier game, but I guess a bit more advertising is no problem, especially when it's free.
They're certainly well-known now, Tony, but nobody had heard of them before the show started. Now it's one of the most popular BBC shows - I would imagine they're having to turn regular work down.
The cost of some of the repairs are very high, I wouldn't be surprised if a few were several thousand each, probably far above the value of the item. It still makes for cheap TV, though. Like the items they repair the real value of the show is far greater than it costs to make it.
None of the experts are able to take on new private work at the moment, their books are full and have been for months.
