I'm having problems flushing my toilet. I find that everything looks ok when I lift the lid, but I'm having to repeatedly pump the toilet flush about 5-10 times before it fnally flushes.

Any suggestions in which I can avoid the plumber? X

In the bumpy bit at the bottom of the tank which the handle joins on to, inside there is a seal which pulls up when you flush the loo, this probably has got worn or has a tear in it .
You need to find a good handyman to dismantle it for you as the cost of a new seal is peanuts.
Hi Jeanette. I had the same problem recently and managed to fix it for 79p. Don't laugh at my technical knowledge but....I undid the handle, took the big clear plastic thing out and underneath it was a blue, flimsy film like thing which was torn. I took it with me to Wilkinson's and found another blue thing (threw the packing away and can't remember what it was called). I replaced the old one with one of them and put the whole thing back together again (having made a note of where everything went whilst undoing it). No more probs!
