Likewise JRB ............. the recent failings of dt crosswords defy belief! Presumably the crossword will be deemed null and void, mirroring recent decisions with the Herculis puzzle.

Why don't we all print "anon" meaning "unknown" in the space (it fits) and see if they will accept it.
anon it is!!!
Yes the only other alternative is probably Anan, and this is less likely to be the answer. Unfortunately, owing to their incompetence they probably have no alternative other than to "withdraw" the crossword.
would hope common sense prevails...and they accept otherwise correct entries.....(common sense???..must be still half asleep!!!!)
Hoping that your optimism is rewarded paulineward, I will send it in as suggested by JRB.
In retrospect .......... could this be a deliberate omission by the compiler, bearing in mind the likely answer??
If it had been a cryptic crossword it would be a strong possibility but in this case??????????
Question Author
If the compiler is going to start playing omission games we should have him/her up before the Office of Fair Trade!
I think sarumite is giving the compiler too much credit. Its just another error both by him and/or the printers for not proofreading properly ??
Considering the level of mistakes, could be ONAN
Could also be -
Onan - Judah's son in OT
Onin - Japanese era
Enon - p.a. robot from Fujitsu
