Now that the point has been made, should politics be taken out of sport, and sportsmen and women should now stop, '' Taking The Knee?''
(And especially when accompanied with the clenched fist power symbol!)

I know your view, AH. You've already told us. //

As have you, on many posts, many times - but it's never stopped you repeating it if you felt it was approproate.

I am simply exercising the same principle - and I'm not sure you can speak on behalf of 'us' either.
AH, Well, I know roy and spice read your post because they responded to it. That'll be 'us' then.

Not sure that entitles you to speak on their behalf though.

Strange, since you leap all over anyone who hints at speaking for you.
"My problem with it, is that it any virtue in actually making the gesture is obliterated by the sheer arrogance and pompous piety it invokes, plus, much like skateboardng, it seems to look natural when done in the US, but awkward and stupid when done here."

THAT is your issue? Seems petty but your choice, as it is their choice to take the knee.

The difference is, my choice doesn't hold up entertaining thousands of people who have paid money to watch me do my job, while I advertise my social concience to them, wether they like it or not.
AH, //Not sure that entitles you to speak on their behalf though. //

That's not your decision. You're verging on one of your regular trips around the houses so you can journey alone. I'm not getting into it with you.
The anti-racists are currently busy on Twitter calling Micah Richards and John Barnes something that rhymes with Moon, simply because they have the wrong opinion...funny old world.
Andy, they chose to pay for it, are you suggesting the Milwall fans were right to boo because they had to wait a few seconds..???
naomi - // AH, //Not sure that entitles you to speak on their behalf though. //

No, it's not, and it's not yours either, which is my point, and which I see you understand, because you are withdrawing, which is what you usually do.
Trevor - // Andy, they chose to pay for it, //

Actually, they chose to pay to watch a football match - inappropriate time-consuing ego-stroking comes as an univited unwelcome extra.

// ... are you suggesting the Milwall fans were right to boo because they had to wait a few seconds..??? //

No, I am not suggesting anything.

My previous OP on this subject stated my position - that the assumption that the fans' booing because they don't approve of petty posturing does not make them racists, as the FA clearly believes, hence its 'investigation' into the matter.

I think the fans are right to express their displeasure if they wish - and that is their right.

It's not what I would do, but that's free speech.
Ok, seems your only angst is that its just become a bit embarrassing and awkward after the initial euphoria then?

A bit like clap for carers?

I still think if they want to take the knee they can. I shan't mock them or boo. I'm not enlightened or woke, just grown up.
AH//..you are withdrawing, which is what you usually do. //

Indeed - the sensible option when presented with nonsense.

I would hesitate to call it 'angst' - and my issue is not so much with the embarassment of an American token looking silly here - it's that fans' hostility towards it has been automatically read as being racist, and I think that is invalid and unacceptable.

Of course, they can - as long as they accept that hostility towards it does not make those who do not appreciate it racists.

And rudeness on the way out!

Don't let the door hit you ...

Good grief, the stench of hypocrisy is enough to make you choke.
LacyCG - Better open a window then ...
