I am trying to get an insurance quote on my car as i had 9 points on my licence and the three years that they are kept are now up, i tried to get a quote and i was asked if i had any points within the last year! i found that a little unfair as police only keep it as a black mark against you for 3 years, my question. does anyone know of any companies that only check for the last 3 years?

most companies ask if you have had any in the last 5 yrs
The 'totting-up' system of penalty points may well only check the liability for disqualification of a person incurring 12 or more points within a 3 year period, however endorsements must remain on a licence for at least 4 years (and up to 11 years for the most serious offences).

I can't see what you are complaining about. If you got the points 3 years ago, and they asked if you got any in the last year, you can reply "no".
Thanks for that comment rojash. I`d been reading and re-reading the question for ages thinking the same as you. Thought it was just me finding the question ambiguous.
