Electric Toaster

I have a Breville electric toaster. I find that whatever the setting it is SLOW and tends to bake the bread. What I am trying to replicate is the toast you make at a camp fire when you can put the bread close enough to the red hot embers so that it toasts QUICKLY. Suggestions would be appreciated. ps I have tried using a toaster oven but that is no better.

Use the grill.
Yep, use the grill.
Turn it on full for five minutes before you put the bread under so it’s really, really hot.
I doubt it’d be like a camp fire though..
Another way is to let your toaster run 'empty' and warm up for a couple of minutes before you start toasting your bread.
As already said, grill is best
