Extension with sloping roof across the back of a standard semi .

Trying to decide between -

1. A separate ceiling inside. ( cupboards all the way round to the top of ceiling )

2. Sloping roof and ceiling as one with skylight ( cupboards wouldn't be able to go all the way to the top , with the tops of the cupboards being at the same level
because of the slope - however the room would seem more spacious )

What option would you choose ?

One door and two windows ,most likely
Looks quite straightforward, Baz. It wouldn't take very long to build.
Access is probably the main concern.

With a roof pitch as slow as that, a vaulted ceiling would certainly make it more interesting.
Also, as an alternative, it's quite common to attach horizontal ceiling joists halfway up the slope. This would give a flat bit for the top half, and a slopey part for the bottom half.
Just another thought. It's all a matter of personal preference.

Seems ok to me.

It makes putting in the rooflights easier, because you don't have to make up a "tunnel" from the roof down to the room. If you see what I mean.

If I were doing the job, I can't see why I would have to charge you any extra for providing this type of ceiling. It's only a case of tacking short joists to the sides of the main roof rafters.

I think it makes a big difference to the overall style of the kitchen.....
........... but that maybe just me............. ;o)
