I don’t know why but I prefer diagonal for myself. Husband prefers them rectangular.

I cut it down the middle from top to bottom...you get two similar pieces, rather than a top piece and a bottom piece.

where ever the knife lands..

white bread = rectangles
brown bread = triangles

Halved, but it really doesn't worry me. I'd eat triangles, quarters, soldiers.
