pixie - // One thing I didn't like, was that my mum remarried when I was a child. She changed her name, but not ours... and the amount of times I had to explain why my name was different ... I was never going to do that to my children. //

Obviously our two older girls were in that position, but I can't recall them ever having an issue about the name difference.

My youngest daughter lives with her partner, has done for eight years, and her son from her marriage calls her partner Dad.

On the other hand, our two older daughters have only ever called me Andy, and still do, even though they refer to me and introduce me as their dad.

I guess everyone finds what works for them.
Post it another few times Piggy if it makes you feel better.

Yes, I call my stepdad by his first name, but they are my parents. My mum also never realised we didn't like it, until fairly recently.
Orkney maybe? As featured in an item on Top Gear back when it was fun.

Sorry, you lost me - do you mean didn;t like having a different name growing up?
An expert would have checked first and seen the one on Shetland too.

What a pair of ... :-)
Yes. She just never considered it that way... I think it was to appease my dad, rather than about us.

That's a shame.

As I said, i don;t think our elder two had an issue, and since our oldest is a chip off the proverbial block, if she did have an issue, I would have heard about it!!
I'm quite attached to my surname.

My sons have their fathers name but chose to be known by my name.
