Wickes delivered 8 bags of compost, 4 of gravel, 30 smallish slabs (to the front door).

Asked the three blokes to carry it the 35-ish metres to the bottom of the garden, which they did.

Lobbed them £30 (not each!) for the humping, which took about 15 minutes.

Got the impression that they didn’t see it as a ‘good’ tip.

Saddens me.

What do others think? (Of the tip, not my melancholy disposition).

OK...sorry if I sounded dismissive.

I'm surrounded by tradesmen who will do work for free and you bung them a drink (£20) but the favour will be paid back when needed.

Tradesmen who will work for free?

I’m puzzled by that (also delighted, as it sounds like socialism in action!)
i wouldn't have paid them more, ungrateful louts...
Ummmm// I'm surrounded by tradesmen who will do work for free //

Obviously tradesmen of independent wealth who just work to keep boredom at bay lol! Hey Ummmm you can maybe get one to clean up your back garden so you can get some fresh air ;-)
