how is income tax worked out? because my sister who gets paid monthly pays �100 a MONTH in tax and NI and i get paid weekly and can be paying �50+ in tax and NI.

surely this is wrong???

For a person with a tax code 503L (and no deductions for pension etc.) you would expect to pay:

�100 tax & NI on a gross pay of around �800 per month

�50 tax & NI on a gross pay of around �270 per week (equivalent to �1170 per month)
