I know two people who have had this distressing condition and completely recovered with time, so don't lose hope.
lyn,
Just as a matter of interest, have you got a rash on the affected side of your face and have you any hearing loss on the paralysed side?
Just interested.
I had this once, a few years ago. I got an appointment at the doctor's and was given steroids and some other pills, I think to settle my stomach if the steroids upset it, and within days I was better. It hasn't come back yet, but I believe it can do. Can I help you in any way?

Thanks for this helpful information. Sqad, no rash and no deafness, thank heavens! Biggest pest is wearing covering over the droopy eye. But still grateful its nothing worse.
PP. No it isn't.
Two different vonfiond but both affecting the Facial nerve.
BELL,s Palsy is of unknown cause and only affects the nerve whereas the Ramsey Hunt Syndrome is caused by the herpes virus (shingles) affecting the geniculate ganglion in the brain anf hence the hearing may also be involved.
Two different conditions.
