I often read this online in response to a post. Shouldn't it be 'read, read!'?

With their fingers following the words on the screen?
Wouldn't that be a problem if they have a touch screen? :-)

Not if they are wore non-touch gloves
I thought it was here, here.
its short for 'Hear Him! Hear Him!'

You thought wrong, but you are not alone in your thinking. It is definitely 'hear, hear' as in listen - what this man is saying is worth listening to

Where, where?
I thought it was, 'Look at me, I'm waving a piece of paper. Over here!'
Here, here Ken!
There, there. :-)
I've always thought it was hear, hear, which originated, I think, in the House of Commons. As mentioned earlier, MP's would agree with some speakers by shouting Hear, Hear, meaning, as stated earlier, Hear him, Hear him.
It's definitely 'hear, hear'.
Funny that, 10C. Because often when i'm watching the goings on in the 'House', my shout is "Have you heard him!?"
For AB it's more often than not "Why? Why?"
