Hi

I live in Leicester and used to buy a block of Paneer Cheese from my local Tesco, they have now taken this product off their shelves and I don't really know where else I can buy it. Can you give me the names of stockists or can I buy on-line.
Regards

Asian foodshops? Or you can make it fairly easily. Most recipe books with Indian or Asian recipes in have a recipe for paneer. It usually involves heating milk, adding a souring agent (like lemon juice) and letting the curds and whey settle and cool. You can then tip the whole thing into a suspended cloth and let it drip until all the whey has come out. Then you just cut it into blocks. It usually works best if you drip it overnight, though, so you can't just make it on a whim, you have to plan a bit.
Thought about taking a walk along Belgrave/Melton Road?

In fact, I'm sure if you ask any Asian shopkeeper (and there are plenty of them) you could find yourself pointed in the right direction.
It must be harder to find a grocery store in Leicester that doesn't sell paneer than find one that does.
hi sainsburys sell it i dont know about the small stores but the larger stores do
as a leicester girl i would have thouhgt it was fairly easy to get in this City, easier than most. sexy jag is spot on, get yourself up Melton Road, no problems up there!
